24th Annual AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards Winners Announced

Beijing – 19 May

The AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards (ACBA) Gala Dinner last night celebrated the success of Australian and Chinese businesses in Greater China across a broad spectrum, from small entrepreneurs through to large publicly listed companies.

A record breaking 148 companies entered the ACBAs in 2017, competing for eight category awards. Of these, 36 finalists were selected by a judging panel for demonstrating outstanding achievement and distinctive excellence within their respective categories.

Around 450 guests attended the Gala Dinner at the JW Marriott Beijing. In addition to the Awards Ceremony, the evening featured a panel discussion on Chinese investment into Australia with Ye Gang, Director of Landbridge Corporation, Wu Xiangqian, General Manager of Yancoal Australia and Shu Hua, CEO of GCL System Integration Technology, hosted by Cheng Lei, anchor of the Global Business program on China Global Television Network (formerly CCTV International).

Other notable speakers and presenters included Australian Ambassador to China, HE Jan Adams and Westpac International President, Mr Bala Swaminathan.

The Business Excellence Award for Small to Medium Enterprise sponsored by Meat and Livestock Australia: Nihao Global

“The high number of quality entries this year has lifted the bar for our candidates. It was a really hard task for the judges to choose between them,” commented Tracy Colgan, Chair of AustCham Beijing, host of the 2017 ACBAs. “In many categories, there were numerous companies that could have ultimately won. It’s testament to the quality of businesses operating between Australia and China. The new Cross-Border Investment category was particularly competitive. The judges chose Goldwind because of their multi-year and multi-deal strategy and their quality Australian leadership team.”

“This high-profile awards program is one of the greatest platforms to showcase success among Australian businesses in Greater China”, Westpac Head of Greater China, Andy Whitford said. “As a sponsor for seven years, Westpac is proud to support businesses in the Australia-China corridor, at this critical point in its economic and financial market development.”

Congratulations to all ACBA 2017 winners and finalists and many thanks to all of our generous sponsors for a fantastic event.
