AustCham welcomes today’s policy address by Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam which lays out concrete plans for improved access for Hong Kong-based companies to engage in the Greater Bay Area opportunity.
With about one-third of our members small business owners, the chamber also welcomes the reduction in profits tax for SMEs to 8.25% for the first $2 million. The remaining profits are to be taxed at the current rate of 16.5%.
Chief Executive Mrs Lam also reinforced the importance of the current Free Trade Negotiations (FTA) between Australia and Hong Kong during her address.
We look forward to hearing more about proposals to reform the MPF as Hong Kong must take greater steps to address its ageing demographic crisis.
